Wow, it has been a month since I blogged last! Time is flying by. So much stuff has happened since our last post. I’ll start where our last entry left off…
3/21-3/23 - We visited Jason's family for Easter. His parents recently moved and are now much closer to us, so we were able to spend time with them without having to drive very far! We got to spend some time with Jason’s grandparents and to dye Easter eggs with Josiah’s cousins Chandler, Bryan, and Trent. Trent (2) loved dying the eggs and had a blast dropping them into the dye from several inches above each container, causing a few splashes and ultimately turning the palms of his little hands a nice dark purple/black color. Since Josiah couldn’t dye his own Easter eggs, I did a couple for him. Next year he will probably be the one with the colorful hands!
3/30-4/1 - My parents came for a quick visit. My dad was able to help us get MUCH better reception on our TV (we are living in the dark ages without cable), and helped us out a lot by putting an extra coat of drywall mud on the pantry. The pantry is admittedly a slow work in progress, but hopefully once Jason is done with school we will have more time to finish it.
4/4-4/6 - Our friends Erwin & Amanda and their daughter Aly came to visit. It was super fun to see them, and to introduce Josiah to his long-distance girlfriend. Aly loved Josiah and would toddle around the house saying ‘baby!’. She is adorable. We figure that it will be best for Josiah to have a long distance girlfriend so that when he gets a little older he won’t need to pay attention to any other girls!
This week has been entertaining. Here are the highlights:
>On Monday night as I was doing laundry, we thought we smelled something burning. Jason figured out that it was the dryer - the heat had stopped working so it was spinning the clothes but not really drying them. This also happened to be the week I decided to start using cloth diapers on a full time basis, and washing Josiah's clothes so we could switch from the 0-3 month size to the 3-6 month size. Great timing, right?
>On Tuesday I took Josiah to the breastfeeding group so I could weigh him. I had to wake him up to change his diaper before I weighed him, so he was grumpy. Then, as I was changing him, he peed all over himself despite my best efforts to prevent just such an incident. He actually sprayed himself directly in the face. I looked up from wiping his butt just in time to see his bewildered expression as he blinked the pee out of his eyes, right before he started screaming. I felt bad for the little guy, but all I could do was laugh. Several other peeing and pooping incidents happened that day - I will spare you the gory details but it was an exhausting day.
>I spent most of Wednesday at Jen's house (she was very gracious) drying several loads of laundry (remember the broken dryer from Monday?). As I was changing Josiah on the floor at Jen's, I turned to get a diaper, and when I turned back around, he was on his tummy! I was kind of shocked, so I rolled him back over on his back to see if he would do it again, and he did! He spent that night rolling around in his crib. He hasn't rolled much since then, and Jason is starting to think that I made the whole thing up. Luckily Jen was there to witness it!
>Thursday was Josiah's 4 month doctor appointment, where he had to get more shots. It really wasn't too bad - he was a champ and only cried a few minutes. However, several hours later he became VERY grouchy and stayed that way until Saturday morning. That was not very fun for the parents! We learned at the doctor’s office that Josiah is 12 lbs 10 oz, and that he is in the 25th percentile for his weight & head size, and the 75th percentile for length/height. That scale is not adjusted for him being 6 weeks early, so I’m guessing his height would be off the charts if we calculated it from his due date!
>Friday evening my brother & his family came to visit. Jason & I watched Josiah plus his cousins Kason & Ava for a couple of hours on Saturday by ourselves. It went really well - the kids were great and everyone survived, but we are worn out! It was fun to see Dave & Jessica and the kids. Kason cracked us up with his funny stories. He has a guinea pig who he named Bing Pingin (I'm not quite sure of the spelling on that). He is very creative!
Happy Tax Day everyone!

It is good to read your blog and catch up on what you have been up to.
Josiah is getting big. He looks less like a newborn now and is rolling over! Just think though some babies are that big when they are born!
